Here's the deal. I got an OWI when I was 16. I served my time and house arrest and probation, payed all my court fees blah blah blah did everything perfectly.

I was told that I can get it expunged when I'm 18. Well I have been 18 for a while now and would like to get it expunged but I have no idea how much it will end up costing me.

I just need to know what the process is for expunging something like that from your record in Indiana... Anyone that can offer and information, I would appreciate it. I really don't feel like paying a lawyer $200 to tell me something I can find out in other places for free...

So give me some input guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

what is a OWI? I'm not too familiar with legal stuff but in the military a lot of guys used pre paid legal service to fix stuff like that. It might be a shot to look into.

K i'll call the courthouse tomorrow. I'll look into that as well tiu, thanks guys. OWI is operating while intoxicated. (whether or not you are intoxicated depends on the states limit, thus owi and not dui, dui is simply under the influence)

you can't get it exponged, I paid $600 and they can't exponge it, I tried everything, they can seal it so that tech. they can't use it against you.....but if they want to they can use it against you.... I have a agg. batt. and my uncle is a big time attorney in west palm beach. and if they want, they will use it against you. sorry man.

Yeah technically if you get in trouble again the judge can see it, but isn't supposed to take it into consideration, they are supposed to act like it never happened... Like they will do that.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif pfft.

I really just want it off my record so that when I get a job after college I don't have to tell them that it happened... I don't plan on getting in trouble anymore, save for a possible minor consumption at a party sometime lol. Hoping not, but it's not like I'm going to stop drinking at parties... I won't drink and drive any more though, and I don't really do anything illegal besides that... Well except for speeding, like 30 and 40 over a lot... and violating noise ordinances... and occasionally fight... and... I'll stop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Look in the phone book and talk to a lawyer. That's what I did, but I was told that you have to wait 10 years to get it sealed and there is no chance for me to get something expunged since I plead guilty. But I wasn't a minor either. You're best chance is to go in and talk to a lawyer. Some don't charge for a consultation.

Yeah you could look at it as spending as much as $500-1000 but how much is it going to end up costing you when you go looking for a job. Trust me, I've lost plenty of jobs to that bullshit w/o a doubt in my mind. In fact, I don't even bother putting that I plead guilty to battery anymore.

What type of things do you do, that you need a $200 an hour lawyer?
