Any reason not to carpet the ported section of a 4th?

If I wanted to plexi part of the loading wall to get a great view of the motors but want the enclosure to mostly match the black cloth of the interior would there be any negative to using a rough material like heavy weight carpet around the baffle and entire ported section?

I'm talking about carpeting the ported section. Subs inverted, plexi in the loading wall, and carpet in the entire ported section. Should I be concerned about reduced port velocity or the air's ability to move though the box? Or is it negligible? I'm talking about 2 18s or 2 15s.

You seen people loose? I've never tested it..

seen people gain from fiberglassing making the port smoother but it was .1 db recorded gain, nothing to write home about.

Ah. You replied before i finished posting. If that's all the difference it'll make I'd sacrifice for aesthetics. I'm such a slow to get going builder though. I don't even know what equipment I'm gonna use but I'm pretty sure I've settle on a 4th wall in my Focus hatch.

Like this but with a large center slot port that is removable. Outside of loading wall and inside of ported section in black carpet with black bolts to install the removable port. Some leds and plexi where I can utilize it for a great view of the motors.

I could. But I'm pretty good at carpeting and just going for a consistent look throughout the interior. I may decide to go that route but I've literally never cut a piece of vinyl before.

I'd do paint, satin or gloss black with a good roller. I have a plexi loading wall, you won't regret doing that as it's swag for days lol

carpet will effect port velocity. I would not carpet it.
