I've been flying a little $30 cheapie Wal-Mart airplane, and since Uncle Sam wrote me a $300 check, I figured I'd like to step up into something thats more realistic. I went to the local hobby shop, and checked out their trainer airplanes, and for $99, they have a kit thats got a little plane with a 40" wingspan and an electric motor. It has a 3-way controller, which controls the engine, rudder and elevators. For $150, they have one that's also 3-way, but you can upgrade as your skill increases to having ailerons on the wings, as well, thus making it 4-way (For an additional $50).

So, what would y'all suggest? Is it a hobby worth undertaking, or should I just stick to audio? Thanks.

ive been flying for years, the best thing you can do is get this as cheap as you can find it on the www,

you will learn to fly without having to repair broken models.

only when you have masterd the sim, go buy a real model, most people give up because it aint easy to fly and a pita to repair.

the g3 sim is a lot of fun and teaches you real model flying skills

yup.. go with the sim!! HOURS of fun, thats how I learned to fly heli's. Plus you get TONS of planes to crash, and only have to hit the red button to re-build!

they have that at the hobby shop

I'm into the hobby, not as much as I have been though. It depends on what you want to do. If you just want an out of the box kit to play around with, or actually want to go further with it. The out of box kits generally don't have the best radios/electronics so upgrading planes would then require a new radio. I fly mostly smaller
