im trying to get an idea on how mutch it would cost me to install a new fernice, and A/C unit in my house.

right now i plan on just doing a fernice, and do AC later on down the road..

basicly it's a 2 story home. 2 bedrooms upstairs. a liveing room, bath room and kitchen. about 500 sq ft upstairs/ 400 sq ft down stairs not counting the garage..

the basement is unfinished.

i took out all of the old unit, and the duct's so it will basicly be a ground up install, starting from scratch..

anyone got an idea?

I have 3 buddies that are certified here in Michigan...I can ask them about how much.

Also each state charges differant amounts....I would try and make it a side job for someone. HVAC is exspensive

What do you mean by just a furnace install? You need a whole heating system or just a new furnace? what kind of heat do you have now?

Not in HVAC but my parents recently did forced hot air/ac. Basically for furnace and ac hooked up to blower and air system.

Might be cheaper in the long run if you combine heat/ac into one install.

basicly the best way to describe it is. it's a nw home. and it all need's to be installed from the ground up ( as far as duct work and so on )

i had an old gravity " octopus " style heater, if you asked me it looked like the very first house heater ever made... had a door in the front where you fed it coal, and was later upgraded to a gas burner..

i have 10-15 local HVAC companies comeing in the next few weeks to give me quotes..

was just wondering how ( just an idea ) mutch i would be looking at

clif's:

need a new heat/ac unit installed in my house.

duct work all has to be done. ect..

Fixed and X2

My sister just did a furnace and some duct work and I beleive it cost her ~$3500 (this is canadian) But she found someon to do it as a side job and it wasnt his top priority. And going by what my parents got quoted for an A/C a couple years ago I would say $1-2k with everything or $2-3K later as a stand alone...

So I would probably say little more then $6k? Then again this is coming from a guy that has never personally done any HVAC work (other then design) so take it for what it is...

it really depend on the size and layout of your house. That will give you the unit size you need and an approximate cost of ductwork. There are really too many variables to give you an estimate. You would be best off having some hvac contractors come to your house and give you some quotes.

from the ground up? labor? material? both units for ac and heat? i'm guessing it'll be significantly more than that.

I wouldn't say significantly more (depends on your definition)

My sisters was basically ground up. Furnace and about 80% of the duct work was redone (as the original duct work was absolute garbage) But it was a older house with not a lot of ducting so not sure.

I definitly wouldn't think more then $10k. Its not that big of a house...

EDIT:

Again I am in canada so things could be completely different elsewhere.
