Any backyard mechanics in here?!

You might have a timing/mixture problem or a ignition/compression problem, depends on what your failed..

Ha ha you could lower the idle.. but that's not always the best choice..

I have a little hooptie, 1988 Ford Escort, non GT model, and won't pass emmisions. I gave it a tune up and just replaced the distributor cap and rotor. I also changed the spark plugs and wires. I think the piece of paper said it's running a little too rich. My mechanic told me that there's nothing I can do. I also replaced the ****** pan gasket and filter...also changed alt and batt. I know it has nothing to do with emmisions but just to state it. Is there anything else I can do like change a sensor or something??

there is always something u could do lol/ my dad is a mechanic let me ask him

AutoZone sells stuff to help you pass emissions. Its like $10 for a small bottle, and then pick up 5-7 bottles of fuel line dryer. Run your car down to like 1/8 of a tank of gas, and then put all that shit in there......Be sure to gas your car up after you leave the emissions place.

What are you failing?

If its the NO2, then you might not have much hope, but try whats recommended above.

It could be ur cat. convertor i asked my dad ( hes is a mechanic) hes is never wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
