No.Yeah isnt after 8 years of being with someone married legally or not you are considered married? I just heard that somewhere, I forget where, but I know I have heard it.
Some states have a law called "Common Law Marriage", in which if you reside with your significant other for 7yrs or more you can be considered legally married (which allows you to file your taxes as a married couple, get insurance as a married couple, etc).
However, not all states acknowledge Common Law Marriages. For example, the state of Indiana where I live does not have Common Law Marriages. Live with your girlfriend for 20 years and she'll never legally be anything other than your girlfriend unless you get formally married.
