Animated Avatar?

It says I am not allowed to upload animated avatars, but yet I see plenty of people with them. What am I doing wrong?

i noticed this problem a few days ago when i tried uploading a gif. i tried linking to one i hosted elsewhere and it still said no. i've had animated avatars in the past so this problem is probably only temporary. everyone should spam goobs pm inbox.

its a change that was enacted recently. Will not allow gif files to be in your sig. but if you had them before you are kind of grandfathered in untill you change it if im not mistaken.
