ok, i have an L7 pushed by my zx750.1. i built my own box 2.5 cubic foot box tuned @ 35Hz. now on songs like, i wanna f*** you, on the high notes it sounds very weird. almost as if somethings vibrating. my question is this. when i built my box the sub is really really tight going in. should there be a little play? not alot but just a little. it did this in the the last box i bought. i glued the joints with titebond 3, sealed it up. screwed it all together very tight. or could it be this.

i have a deck with only one pre amp output. i run the from the deck to the sub amp, from there to the speaker amp. could it be the highs mixing with the bass or something? like the sub catching some of those highs that should go to the speakers?

i would check the gain, you may have it cranked too high causing the sub to bottom out..that 750.1 is prolly doing like 900-950..which may be too weak for an l7. one thing i would definatly reccomend is getting a new radio that has 4-5 volt preouts, like a pioneer or eclipse.. you can get the right setting on the amp w/o turning the gain up high

Your L7 loosened up. At least it was my experience. I installed my new L7 in january of last year. During the summer (about 6 months later) the sub started having problems. I got a new one from Kicker, installed it and I could not believe the difference in sound. Much tighter bass. My box is 2.25 sealed and I could tell a night and day difference between a new sub and a sub with some hours of playtime.

I speculate the effect is more noticeable since you have a ported box.

yea but, im doubting that my sub is junk after less then a month of not to much play time.

i broke it in and played it hear and there. it was waiting for a new home after i broke it in.

people say check your gains. now how do i use a DMM to do that? i dont even know what a DMM is. can someone explain, please?

thank you so much for all this help. do you guys think that it could possibly be that the cutout is to small for the sub. its a really tight fit. but it only happens on certain notes.

also: what does he mean by subwoofer volume control? a bass boost knob or? or the option on my HU?

definately not, if yu got the sub in the hole is the right size, but if there is even a tiny air leak it can sound like a mosquito on steroids and crack.

yea, it does, only on high notes though. i was thinking trimming the cutout hole a little, putting some deadening material to get a good seal and stop any somehow vibrations and then seal the outside of my box to? even though the inside is sealed well it coudnt hurt to do all these steps right?
