ok i dont see why people put alts in cars the ones that come on cars stock are on average 120 amp alts and there is 11,000 watts in one amp so there is no way you people are drawing to much power from your altinators

haha...my stock Civic amp is 60amps buddy...and most big amps draw around 200-300...lets not get into 11k watts

there is 11,000 watts in one amp and yes there is not an alt made for a vehicle that is smaller than 80 amp and i think its on a geo and if you have one of those then i feel sorry for you

the energy from your alt doesm't go directly to your speaker it takes alot of power to make a 1000 watt amp actually put out 1000 watts... for example look at your HU it probably draws anywhere from 5 to 15 amps... does that mean it puts out 55,000 watts? no... it's beacuse it takes power to make power so to speak your 1000 watt amp should use more than a 100 amps to amplify a signal to 1000 watts... if your stock alt is 120 i'm guessing your car's load is around 60 amps so you are allready over-drawing power.... your car battery offsets this somewhat but not allways enough... ever seen a system dim headlights?.... most stock alts aren't sufficent to power middle-to-large setups...

My mustang has a 302 and the stock alt. is 65 amp.

My full size dodge has a 360 and the stock alt. is 100 amp.

And Who said they HAVE to upgrade alt?

Most people upgrade there alts because of dimming...If you like strobes, you should be fine..But me personally i dont like feeling like im in the club everytime i hop in a car...
