What is the biggest alternator u can buy or that u can get rebuilt? somebody told me that he had a 240 amp built for $360. does this sound right?

I remember a company used to SAY they could hit 300 amps at 2000k RPM in 12v and 350 at 16v...

based on experience, what company seems to do the best work around here? I remember reading a while back of people who had problems with certain companies... It didn't really mean anything to me at the time, but now I am considering a HO alt.... so what's the most recomended on the CA.com board?

stay away from EA. nathan can **** my hairy left nut. i'd only run mean-green from now on

Lonestar rebuilds alternators and starters...and many have liked thier work. http://www.ohiogen.com would be my pick if I had to choose from an internet source.
