Alpine PDX-1.1000 enough for DP 21"?

I have a 21" Incriminator Audio Death Penalty sub. It's in 9.1 cubes ported to 32hz. I had it powered by an M.A. Audio HK2000D. That put out 1,500 watts RMS @1 ohm 14.4 volts. The amp started smoking for no reason (volume was at about 30%). I could talk without difficulty to my g/f at the time. Checked the under hood fuse when it happened to pull it to cut current, but it was already blown. Checked amp connections and didn't find any problems. Checked internal amp fuses....of course none of them were blown.

I haven't taken the amp apart yet to see what the problem is, but suffice it to say that I'll be needing a new amp. I like the small size of the PDX amps and I already have an alpine iva-w205 head unit and the 5.1 dolby digital alpine amp for my coaxials.

Will I notice a volume difference between the alpine and the M.A. audio amp I had? The M.A. Audio amp did dim the lights and consistently blew the 100 amp agu fuse under the hood if I had it cranked up for 30 seconds straight. I have since bought a 200 amp ANL fuse and holder, but haven't hooked it up yet. I have a couple spare 100 amp agu fuses left. Looking for educated opinions. Thanks! My other consideration is an Audioque 2200.

Size is a concern, as I swap out the ported death penalty for a sealed Orion H2 10.2 when I put the 3rd row seat back in my truck (when hauling passengers). The amps will be mounted on the sides of the truck below the rear windows, so they need to fit on either side of my 3rd row seat.

Thanks!

you should be able to find a decent price if you wait for it, $600 or so for 2 (I got mine for $280, it was a steal). They are stackable, so depending on how you plan on mounting it, it shouldn't take much space at all, they are smaller than a piece of paper. The PDX will also allow you to run your sub at .75 - 8ohms w/o losing any power. More ohms = better sound = better choice

Just depends on how loud you want to be I guess... Yea the 21 will play and sound great on 1000 watts, but it just won't be playing to its potential......good luck!!
