yeah but i have an ipod touch 4th gen and it doesnt work on my Alpine cda-9886 same exact cd player, i called alpine they said that no only older ipods work, so no the 4th gen and 5th gen touch DOES NOT work on this cd player! .... im not exactly sure how old your ipod has to be to use on this cd player, but its really pretty shatty if you ask me!..i have a 50 dollar sony in my 2nd truck that i can use any mp3,ipod, cell phone that i want through the AUX or USB, but not on this pricey expensive cd player! ....so i would have to say i like my pos 50 dolla sony way better! even though the alpine looks cool, and of course alpines have the most complicated menus of any cd player out there!

Actually using the AUX cable this unit does not control the ipod but will play it, meaning you have to control the ipod itself but it will still play. For FULL ipod control a newer unit would be needed.

idk bro, me personallyi prefer to use the ipod its self for controll, even this doesnt work on mine, when i called alpine he had me do a hard reboot of the cd player then it worked , next time i got in my truck it didnt, so i did the same reboot still didnt work, i tried about 10 times since then but only worked like 2 times so i gave up on it!...pretty crappy really since its such a **** head unit!

Well sorry you had bad luck I have ran Alpine for a LONG time, and never had any issues. I only switched to Pioneer since Alpine got out of the High End single din units. They even make a full control cable for this unit for $10 on ebay, however it is limited to certain ipods.

I'm hoping to find someone who might be able to repair this head unit. The faceplate doesn't slide out at all.

The cutting it off part is what I'm confused about now. The speakers in my car have two wires coming off of them but I would only have one wire on...
