Alpine CDA-9886 USB Port compatability with Iphone 5

Hi

I just purchased a cda-9886 and am currently waiting for the wire harness to arrive in order to hook it up to my vehicle. I am wondering if the usb port would enable me to play music by using my lightning pin connector cord and running my iPhone 5 through the cord into the usb port. The manual doesn't really clarify.
