Im thinking of purchasing a new HU, and need some input on which one to select. Leaning towards the Alpine b/c I dont have to subscribe to Sirius in order for it to work. I dont want to get one with motorized faceplate b/c I've heard they are more prone to breaking. What are some good specs I should be focusin on when choosing a HU?

I thought for sure you needed the Sirius subscription to get the service?? Also, the motorized face plate can only be a problem if you don't take care of the deck or you would get it soiled with dirt or something. They have gotten a lot more reliable over the years.

Correct. Without an active subscription to Sirius' service you're not going to be able to access their programming as far as I know (unless the Alpine comes in some kind of bundle that includes a year's subscription or something)
