Alpine CDA-9855 Vs. Sony CDX-M9905X

I've been debating whether I should get the Alpine CDA-9855 or the Sony CDX-M9905x, for my Jeep Cherokee. When you compare their stats it seems that the Sony comes out on top. Some would argue, however, that the Alpine headunits are much more durable and reliable. I'd like to hear some input on this. Thanks

I can't comment on the 9855, although I have read (and I'm sure you have too) that the glidetouch is pathetic.

The Sony, however, I can talk a little bit about. I owned that head unit and was very unhappy with it for about 6 months. I didn't like the way my entire system sounded, the interface was EXTREMELY hard to use, and there just wasn't that much customability of the sound. Some argue that the difference from one head unit to another doesn't make that much of a difference in sound, but I can tell you going from that Sony to my Eclipse CD8455 was a very noticeable difference. Not only does it sound better STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX than my Sony did tweaked excessively, it's MUCH easier to use. The 8455 is a little more expensive, but in my honest opinion it's definitely worth it.

To be honest, at first I did not like Glidetouch at all, but after about a week I got used to it. If you are doing the KCA-420i it works really well. Overall I would say that glidetouch is a nice feature

Thanks for all the info guys, probably gonna go with a different alpine or an eclipse. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Excelon 889!

the new 2005 alpines are for shit, and sony well, its sony not even a consideration for me,

pioneer short out to easily but work well when they work

and eclipse are not internet friendly but are awsome if you have the retail smack
