Alpine CDA-9853 and 9855

I just paid Best Buy $ 3000.00 to install into my 2003 350Z a new Alpine system. I still have a few kinks to work out, but my concerns are with the head unit. I currently have the 9853 installed and have been living with it for 2 weeks. I like it except for the daytime display. The display is in blue and white. I can see the white text, but not the blue. At night it is great.

I am thinking about upgrading to the 9855. I understand it has a biolight display (not sure what that is). There has been alot of information on this sight in regards to the Alpine HU. Most opinions are negative. I do like the idea of the text read outs for CD's, XM, and Ipod. Although as mentioned numerous times, the glide control is not the most user friendly. It is difficult to drive 110 MPH and try and figure out the controls on the Alpine.

Here's my question, would you suggest going to the 9855 for a better display in the daylight? I don't want to change to another manufacturer because I did buy the ipod adapter so I could have text display for ipod tunes.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks,

Larry

Thanks for replying. Can you change the color on the text for the 9855? Or is it white all the time? Can you change the font as well?

Thanks,

Larry

why are you driving 110 mph and fiddling with your stereo?

Once again, I caution everyone on the 9853 display. It is great at night, but on a bright sunny day, you cannot see the blue.
mine is in the sunshine all day in my boat and i can read it just fine. i actually think it is one of the better ones out there. muhc better than the eclipse 8455 that was in there. i couldnt read anything on that deck.

do you not have the tilt feature on ur 53? 55 is cool, u can change the fonts. Biolite just as a really high contrast makes it look sharper and clearer. I like it.
