algebra on ti 83

Ti-89 my freind
While my TI-89 Titanium is quite baller for calc, you do not need an 89 to solve quadratics.

The easiest way is to get an application for your calculator called "polysmlt". However you can solve them another way by typing this, for example

solve(x^2+4x+6),x then press enter

It should give you the answer. I haven't used one for a while though... if you can't find the "solve(" key you can use the catalog key to get it.

you can also use "factor(" for the same type of thing. Hope this helps a bit

can u only one give me help with 83 83 83 not 89 but 83 and i dont like paper and pencil thats why i bought a $150 cal

yea dude , if you dont learn and understand what your doing whats the point of even taking it?

once you get to a higher level math with a ***** *** professor that dosent let u use calculators your gonna whine and complain about how you never learned the basics

Which class are you in for math? Like high school algebra? I can for sure say that you will regret not knowing how to simplify radicals and factor equations once you get higher up in math. Plus if you spent 150$ you should've ended up with a TI-89 Titanium, as 83's were replaced by 84's but used to cost 90-100$

ehh, in real life, I use about 15% of what I learned in HS and about 25% of what I learned in college. I wouldn't worry about knowing vs. not. Plus, if you can do too much, employers don't like that either.

As for your question, most of the times you can graph it to find the zeros (when x = 0), you can use on of those answers to factor. However, if there are imaginary numbers (trying to solve the square root of a negative number) then it won't pick up those. I may be forgetting much as I haven't used non-practical math in 5 years.

If he is algebra 2 and probably in high school. The probably have laws against him not going. In TN, algebra 2 is required for graduation.

i dunno about an 83, but an 89 will keep radicals exact if you set it to exact instead of approximate in the setup. I agree with most others though as far as know how to do it. Every person i know that has a problem in calculus and above can't do plain old algebra. It's actually kind of sad.
