Well i've been through my third radioshack soldering iron and I've had it... I want something that will actually be somewhat quality but I'm not really looking to spend over $35 on it. Really just something that will last me a while and be better than radioshack ****.

How do you expect to buy a quality iron for the same price as the radioshack equivalent?

In any case, soldering irons require maintenance, so if you're toasting the cheap ones that fast you'll probably do the same to a quality one. I've been using the radioshack irons for years and have only had to replace the main unit once.

Idk what I am doing wrong to blow these irons... but I build little L.E.D. light projects where I have the iron on for a couple hours at a time. Probably just overusing it. My radioshack iron is completely black from the tip to the base of the metal part. Had this one for maybe 5 months
