advantages of a new head unit?

I'm new to this, but I just got a new JL Audio W3v3 and I have a new car with a factory deck. To get the sub installed I'm gonna need to buy a high low converter for 25 buck so I figured if I get a new head unit I will basically be saving 25 dollars. The factory deck I have now has an auxillary port and 6 cd changer. Would there be any advantage to buying a new deck and is it worth it?

If so, what's a really nice one under $120. I was looking at the Dual XDMR7700

1st off, don't buy Dual, they're generally crap.

The advantages of a new headunit increases as you go up in prices. One would be playing MP3s (if your stocker doesn't do it). Secondly, it might provide you with a cleaner signal to your amp, but i'm not even 100% sure on that shit. Third, it would just give it better SQ...

I dont' know any good one for 120 or less though.

K, well mine plays MP3. What would be a good one than, and how much would I be paying. Also, is it worth it for that much?

Depends on what you're driving. My freind's new G6 has all kinds of cool crap with his stock HU, so we just got the 25 dollar high/low converter...my stock unit was a tape player, so i went straight into the trash the day i bought the truck lol. I'm guessing you drive a relatively newer car, which leads me to believe its a decent stock H/U.

if you want a better quality unit then you would need to spend a lot more than 120, so i think you should just stick with your stock and perhaps save your cash
