Adjustable E cig mods

VW mods aren't any specific size, VW means variable wattage and VV is variable voltage.

When using a VW mod, you set your wattage so it will automatically adjust the voltage for the ohm coil you built or are using. A variable voltage mod sets your wattage automatically depending on the coil also. You need to be sure when using VW/vv that you do not overdraw from the device. For example the MVP is a 3a max draw, if you have a 1.5 ohm coil and set it to 11W, you are drawing 2.7a which is safe. Bring that coil to 1.2ohm and you have 3.02a of draw, too much and you risk venting the battery. Although VV and VW devices are typically protected and prevent overdraw.

Venting an 18650 batt is no good at all. They are what you would use in a mech mod ( AW IMR 18650, MNKE 18650, Sony VCT4 18650, ETC )

The ones you would want to use in a mech are typically over 20a max discharge so you're not really risking overdraw as much as you need to watch coil ohms. Some of the batts are safe down to .2 ohm but I personally like to stay .3 and above (which is still extremely low and not entirely safe).

If you are looking for a VV/VW , get an innokin itaste mvp2 . They're $45 and also get either this Aspire Nautilus - Adjustable Airflow Tank or this AnyVape Davide Glassomizer

If you want a mech then my best suggestion is to research one thing about them at a time. They can easily overwhelm a noob into not even wanting it anymore.
