and that was when Jim?.....AFTER I had an amp failure, the wiring was already ran for the 1st amp and the replacement amps connections were on opposite sides of the 1st amp....and it was only on the speaker wires....

Not sure about packing tape, lol, but I would get some butt connectors and use those and at least some electrical tape.
