my brother found an older verizon cell phone, no contacts in it, looks like it was erased when he found it....he called verizon they said they cant activate it because it was once reported stolen. Is there any way around this or should i throw it in the trash?

NO way around it one nice thing about Verizon if they reported it stolen the phone becomes a paper weight. You cant rely do that with nextel or any of them with a sim card.
verizon doesnt have sim cards

You could do it had the phone had a sim card slot cause Tmobile, AT&T and I believe Nextel are pro imo

I prefer Tmobile but SIM Cards are the best idea ever.

i just feel like there has to be....it says if a verizon customer service person says its good then they can do it....anyone here on car audio a CS rep

LOL thats what i mean verizon dosent have them so all you have to do is call and say it was stolen. You cant do that with a nextel or any that use sim cards.

CDMA phones like Verizon can be used on another network. Verizon doesn't lock their phones. All depends on what kind of phone it is.

Oh, and anyone who thinks GSM phones can't be locked out after being reported stolen is wrong... the IMEI can still be blocked from Cingular or T-Mobile, regardless of what SIM card is in the phone.

You can sell the phone on Egay or CL for use on Alltel, for example....
