AC to DC power converter?

anyone know of a good one that can handle a BPX1100.1? I'm starting to do some DJing, and as of right now, I dont have the money to get a decent subwoofer. I wanted to just get a power converter for that amp to power 2 W10GTi subs. They are in a sealed enclosure. (ps. anyone know why when the trunk is closed, the cabin gets substantially louder? will this affect using them in a larger sized room?)

That might work, at least temporarily, but keep in mind the amperage rating is MAX and not RMS. It is not designed to continually supply thousands of watts.

I'd really just suggest getting a budget pro amp (like an EP2500). It will end up being much more reliable in the long run especially if you are on the road a lot.

As far as the subs, they will work but you will definitely want to put them in a ported box. A BIG box and tuned around 35-40hz. If you have the time and effort, you could try them in a folded horn which could really pound.

If you are serious about DJ'ing you'll definitely need to upgrade from your 10s eventually so start planning ahead and save up to buy equipment that you will still want to keep in the long run.

As far as a closed trunk being louder, the short answer is that a car acts like an enclosure and boosts frequencies at approximately 12db/octave below certain frequencies beginning somewhere in the range of 50-80hz depending on the size of the vehicle.

Opening the trunk is like having a leaky enclosure = less output.

A larger room still has a similar effect, but the effect begins at much lower frequencies. A small room may see gain beginning at 30hz and below, a large room will see virtually none.

Edit: I just read the RS website and the specs say the power supply is 25A continuous not max. But I'd still be a little wary about the power ratings and voltage drops, etc. leading to eventual equipment failure if it does see heavy use.

well, I can always get a fuse for like 20 Amps to give it a little headroom to prevent droops. I figured its only a hundred, so why not give it a shot... As for the enclosure, I understand that perfectly. The subs I have will suffice for a decent amount of time as well... they hit low and hard and can handle 1500 watts no problem if they ever see it. Right now they have like 600 apiece.
