A weekend of catfishing

Thursday

My room mate is new to fishing and I got him to start going and am teaching him the ropes. Here he is with his first edible sized catfish of the year and its a nice one.

Friday

Dad and I went to try and catch some flathead catfish at a local spillway. Didn't catch any good ones but did get these 3.

Heres a few pics of the "junk fish" caught. Caught over 50lbs of these bastards. A few blacks will eat them, but not us.

Most of the days catch..2-5lb Buffalo.

And a big carp.

And the best for last..Dad got this 37lb flathead today. Best we have caught to date.

Worms for my room mates blue..

Just a silver Eagle Claw 5/0 hook for the rest.. Discovered a legal way to snag them in the boils of the swift water of the spillway..The flatheads come in there to feed..Had to use 5oz of weight to get the hooks to stay near the bottom.

We have caught buffalo on worms, bream, and minnows before.

I snagged these though.
