A way to tell how much power sub can take?

I was wondering if there is a way to tell how much a sub can take? I tried searching for this question, but none of the keywords I used came up with anything.

I'm just wondering if there is a way to tell. Can you use a DMM or Oscope to tell?

I'm just wondering how you know if a sub can put out more than stated.

Do you just put the power through it and if it lives it can handle it?

Like for a sub that only shows Max Wattage.

Sorry if this is a newb question. I tried searching.

lmao. Yeah I figured as much.

Well I have one of the custom TC9's from TeamQuakeCelica and it said "1000w RMS (handle quite a bit more though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif "

I know on reg. TC9 it says 500-2000 RMS.

So I was wondering how far I could take the custom TC9 from TQC and still be safe (as in not f'in it up)

So I wasn't sure if there was a test or anything

Yeah I wasn't sure. I've asked TQC dude before, but he's never given a set wattage.

But by the way it sounded it could take quite a bit. So wasn't really sure what the unsafe zone would be.

I have a 1500W RMS amp and wanted to make sure I didn't F'up sub.

Maybe I'll just keep it around 1200W. Wanted to try and get the most out of it though. But I'm sure 1200 RMS would be good/loud enough for my first sub system.

Yeah my bad. RMS wattage

I've just heard alot of people saying "Sub A can take this much more than rated RMS". Just wasn't sure how you figured that out.

There are quite a few of those subs being ran 1 sundown 1500.1 per sub... they handle that power just fine... I don't recommend more than 1200w RMS... but you can feed them 2000 and the sub will live //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Cool Thanks man.

I just didn't want to keep bugging you, so I figured I'd see if there was a way to measure the sub.

I bought a Cadence ZRS8 and I guess it'll do 1500W @ 13.8V.

I was going to use This Voltage/Power/ Chart to set my gains. I was going to set it around 35V, but that'll give me about 1200 RMS @ 1ohm @ 14.4V (from what the chart states), I think. So with the Cadence rated @ 13.8V that'd give me a bit more (probably around 1300W) I just wanted to make sure it'd be safe. Maybe I'll go to 33V. I'm not sure.

Thanks for the help. I'll just keep it around 33-34V to be safe.
