Unions use propaganda to paint these pictures of corporations as big evil empires out to squash the little guy. Yeah there are some bad companies out there but there are some really good ones too. Unions want you to believe that companies making a profit are somehow a bad thing. The only people who benefit from unions are the members themselves. I had a labor issue a few weeks ago with the laborers union and the labor Stewart. I have to constantly check their PLA contract because they will claim things that aren’t even in their contract. Often I find that they don’t even know their own rules. I read their contract two weeks ago and almost vomited over what is in there. I cannot believe that my company even signs these things! In dealing with both union and non-union companies I have found that the union companies are not always better. I have had some very good experiences with both union and non-union subcontractors. We have a union waterproofing company right now that is an A+ company and their workers are skilled and professional. We have a non union plumbing sub that is also this way and we have a union concrete company that totally ***** especially in safety.
