[QUOTE="negative3five, post: 8626226, member: 570488"] When I was non union I made more hourly for one company but I had to deduct my health insurance and retirement out of my salary so in the end I made less after taxes and deductions. Another problem with that company is they would always try to get out of paying over time i can't tell you how many 60 hour weeks I worked to receive 50 hours straight time and 10 hours overtime, you pretty much just had to take it or you were out of a job. Being part of the union guarantee s thier going to pay my over time at the rate we agreed upon. And like I said when work go slow it was always go on unemployment and we'll call you when a job comes up being part of the union the second a company doesn't have anymore work for me I put my name on the list and usually with in a day or 2 I'm back out with another company till they slow down, but mostly I have been with the same company for 5 years now unless thier only jobs are out of state I leave that work for the younger guys that don't mind living out of a hotel for 6-9 months.
