A great 15A story

I just noticed this today and I found this to be rather amusing. When setting my gains I can turn them up as far as I want and the A doesnt distort. Just goes to show that eD makes one hell of a product.

Not that I am going to leave them that high but its nice to know I can

haha nothing against you or anythign but the people i have come across that do htat are dumb as hell. haah we were sittting out side and this guy was like listen to this and he cranks his type R's turns the gain all the way up. he then turns it back down and a group of girls walks by and he gos hey ladies and cranks it again in the same manner and all u smell is smoke then it starts too seep out of the screw holes around the sub and we open up the box and this huge cloud of smoke comes billowing out then my other dumbass friend was like hey i can get high off this sticks his head in for like 15 secs and ends up going to the hospital with uncontrollable coughing eventully started coughing blood... and needless to say it was one hell of a day. the guys sub blew and one guy went to the hospital.

and when they tell you not to turn your gains up all the way it is so your amp doesnt clip and blow your subs....it doesnt necessarily cause distortion in your subs.

I wouldn't say that. If you have very good ears, you can EASILY hear the amplifier clipping, because it creates an absolutely tremendous amount of distortion. Look at the waveform, there's no possible way for a clipped wave form to NOT be incredibly distorted.

The amplifier could have soft clipping, but I rarely ever see that in car amps, or he might simply not be sending enough voltage to the amp to clip it.

You can often times look at the cone movement with subs, it becomes very erratic, and looks very unnatural, but I can't imagine that anyone with a halfway decent set of ears wouldn't hear it anyway...

agreed...i can usually see clipping before i can hear it....it actually looks as iff the cone slows down

Well sorry but I am not one of these guys. I was just bored that night so I played around with the my amp. The gains were up for about oh 10 seconds. Now they are set nice and perfect because later that night I set the gains with an oscilloscope.

and i dont inhale sub smoke i only huff model airplane glue but thats another story entirely......
