99-04 Grand Am owners!?

Any Grand Am owners out there? If so, have any of u put custom kicks in your car or been able to mod the existing door to accompodate a 6.5 component system? They way GM designed the door panel in stupid. Looking for suggestions! Thanks!

i used to have 6.5 components in mine when i had it. just use some spacers is all i had to do, and i put the tweeter in the stock pod after i trimmed the back of it a little

edit: actually, now that i think about it, i had to cut the grill off the door and install them onto the panel itself

Do u mean u mounted the speaker to the actual door panel itself? If so, how'd that work?

I just got the same car and here's what I'm going to do. I'm a huge fan of kicks after making some custom ones in my old car.

It took a long time so I'd rather just pay the money and have them already done and fabricated. Mounting depth may be an issue for you so check it out. You'd then have to decide to mount the tweeters in the kick or in the factory door location.

Has anyone heard the imaging/soundstage of these q-logics or where to find them for cheaper?

Oh yeah, I'm also reserving the door for some 8's or shallow mount 10's. Any suggestions are welcome, especially if you've heard the sq10 from Elemental Designs.

From what i've gathered, the consesous on this board is that q-logics are worthless. Bad imaging and no midbass. I, myself, can vouch for that cuz i've never heard them.

Just redo the whole door panel with a kick glassed in?

That is what i planned on doing in my wifes 04.

my brother has an 04 grand am gt and this guy from one of my local car audio shops said that it would be no problem putting in 6.5" speakers in there

i just cut the stock grill out with a dremel, and used the aftermarket mounting ring and grill that came with the speakers to mount it to the door panel

i cut out most of the pannel inder it and the pocket for shit then glassed over it
