97 Dodge Dakota Sport 4x4

318 Magnum

Auto *****

Engine was having oil pressure problems so after trying a bunch of precautionarys decided to pull it and rebuild it. Going to be getting:

Shorty Headers

Performance underdrive pulleys

Aftermarket ignition system

Freeze Plugs

Accel Perfomance coil

Streetfire spark plug wires

oil pump and pickup

Possible new high volume water pump, gear drive, cam along with viper roller rockers.

Probally adding a 5-6" lift and 35"s to it later on with blacked out wheels, cut out fenders and bushwacker fender flares, custom (made by us) brushguard and rollbar.

Heres some pics and a vid for now of how it sounds.

looks pretty nice, i have a 98 dakota. how much money are you gonna be lookin at for the engine upgrade? i've thought about mine, but i'd rather spend the money on audio then an engine.

I love my 97 dak. And I need to get some headers on mine too. My drivers side manifold has a crack in it and that exhaust leak is **** annoying. If you do any interior mods and want to get rid of the middle seat up front let me know. I want to ditch my console and put a seat in. Good luck with the build man should be nice.

You might as well pull the ****** now while you're doing the work. It will save you the trouble later when it WILL start slipping.

Common for daks and durangos to have cracked manifolds. Happened to MOST of the ones I have seen. I have a friend that has a '96 that runs high 10s in the 1/4 with no spray. And its NOT the R/T model, but he's spent less than $4k in mods to the engine, and smokes all the R/T guys.

Yeah I saw those on ebay didn't look too bad for the price. I'm sure they don't compare to most brand name headers but will def look nice in the engine bay. Notice any power increase with them?
there very well made for that price. Wouldnt find a better deal if your on a budget. We havent pulled the engine or put them on yet but im positive there will be a increase in the hp and sound departments.

A lot of people think the R/T models make much more power than the regular ones. They don't, I think its something like 10 more hp.

nice. you need bigger tailipipes though. i like the "swept to the side" look on trucks...or side-exit. i feel you on the cracked manifold though. my mustang has the same thing. common the 6ers. i'm ordering some BBK shorties this week.
