'90s PPI-2075AM...good or bad?

I have a '90s era Precision Power PPI-2075AM amp (attached) that I am considering using in one of my vehicles.

Are these still considered good amps by today's standards or should I move to a new amp?

I was going to use this amp for one of two possible set-ups:

1 - To power a 6.5" front component set in a small car

2 - To power a 10" sub in the back of an SUV

Your feedback would be appreciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for the feedback //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Do you think my old PPI would have more or less real power/output than one of these modern (compact) Class D amps?

This is the new amp I was looking it - JL XD200/2 ( JL Audio XD200/2 Amplifiers - Car Audio Amps & Amplifiers ) ?????

FWIW, my PPI amp says "2 x 75 WRMS 4 ohm load - 12 Volts DC". I see most new amps are rated at 14.4V or 12.5V.

Id use it on the componet set its too clean of a sounding amp to waste on a sub....now if you had a pair of them....one on the sub and one on the componets wouldn't be bad at all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

The JL XD's are great amps, no doubt about it and you won't go wrong either way. However, why spend the money if you don't have to? That PPI will do 150 per channel @ 2 ohms stereo. The old m/am series are my favorites. I think you will like that amp.

I just pulled a mint one one out of the closet today. I remember it being as smooth and powerful amp. I am the original owner and remember paying $479.95. I had it in a weekend muscle car/show car for two years and then removed it (the car had 3 amps total so I saved this one) and it has been sitting inside my den closet ever since! I am going to put it up for sale and I will post in the classifieds. Not sure exactly what to ask for it ~ any suggestions?

Let me know what day it turns into a collectable please //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
