Item(s) for Sale:

SS Orphan BNIB

Item(s) Description/Condition:

Amazing little Beast. This driver has the most massive coil of any 8" I've played with. 8 heavy layers of round copper that will easily soak up 1k or more. I abused one with my US Acoustics 2300 in .3 cubed w/2 10" PR's and was it ever fun. Over 2" of clean excursion and massive thermal capability. This one is brand new. Single 6 ohm coil but just keep it in a tiny enclosure and put it on an amp that makes its power @ 4ohm, you will be good. I say that because this driver wants to see voltage, not current. Lots of back EMF. Anything over 400w is fine.

T/S Parameters for the Orphan 8 Single 6 Ohm:

  • Qts - 0.405
  • Qes - 0.442
  • Qms - 4.778
  • Fs - 34.289 Hz
  • Re - 5.25 Ohm
  • Vas - 5.031 L
  • Mms - 214.1 g
  • Cms - 100.6 m/N
  • Bl - 23.39 T*m
  • Sensitivity - 78.44 dB
  • 17mm Xmax

Reminds me of a tc10oem
Yeah, I could see that. Same paint, similar proportions.
So much want but so much broke
I know that feeling well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Mounting depth on this bad boy please!?
Indeed. With the mounting gasket on, the physical depth is 5.25" but for the pole vent I would give it 6".

Would a t1500.1bdcp be a good match for this sub? And,what's a good box size for this?

I've heard of people being very happy running this driver with the JL500/1 so I imagine the Rockford would do pretty well. This little guy likes little enclosures. I ran it in .3 cubes.

Would a t1500 be to much power? At 4 ohms its rated at 1200rms

Definitely not, this thing loves power. Interestingly enough, I was just talking this over with another member. This driver was meant to work with an amplifier that can swing 104v. Works out to be something like 1800-1900 watts.
Put it in a tiny sealed or vented enclosure and enjoy. A pair of 10" passive radiators would be the best option here for a shit ton of output with the amount of power you have.
