anybody run 6.8spc over 5.56 in their ar15's? I'm trying to figure out if I want to grab one or not.

Then there's no point in getting a 6.8 or 6.5, .308 has superior ballistic performance, they don't even kick that hard on the AR platform. The ONLY advantage i can see in getting a 6.8/6.5 AR is you can hold 8 more rounds than a .308 magazine, but i doubt you're put into situations where 8 more rounds will drastically change the outcome.

I already have 20 round .308 mags.

I just want something in a different caliber then what I already have

I guess I could go .50 Beowulf or .458 socom but I never really like those rounds.

Wilson makes a 7.62x40 I guess but **** expensive ammo

and 6.8/6.5 isn't expensive?

I mean I personally wouldn't get a 6.8 gun if i already had .556 and .308, but it would be a nice conversational piece at the range, and it would be cool to own, but looking at the practicality of buying it, there's really no point

It's not as expensive as 7.62x40 that is wilson combats round and I think it's the only place to get it. if it was 7.62x39 be no problem as I already have a ton of that ****. I know I'll be getting another AR it's inevitable I just don't know which caliber yet.

I have a Mini in 6.8....that round is nothing special IMO....

If you are just wanting one then go for it. If it is to do any kind of high volume shooting, I would just stick with the 5.56 as ammo is MUCH cheaper and easier to find.

Probably won't get shot all that much really. I'm thinking of maybe building another .308 but with a 26'' barrel this time.

The Kimber in my sig, has a 21" .308 barrel and is one hell of a shooter. It is actually a long action, Mauser style bolt. I have been thinking about having a 22 or 23" .300 Win Mag barrel made for it.

I'd like a .338 lapua bolt gun ar10 or something be nice to have.

Why not just a 6.8 upper? Then you have a .556 and 6.8. As for the grendel, the 6.8 ammo is more readily available and cheaper. Not a lot of difference in ballistics to warrant more for feeding the grendel.
