when using a o-scope which test tone is better 0,-3,or-5db 40hz tone?? i found a thread somewhere telling the pros/cons of each but i cant find it now

i used a -3dB 50Hz when I set my gains. Most music is around -3dB

Reason most use a 40hz is that is the boost signal on 99.9% of amps. That will be the most boosted tone your stuff ever sees. You set it to not clip there, it won't clip on any other note.
