Ok guys I have a 97 Grand prix gt Fully loaded... and from the symptoms it seems like my system is too much for my car. I find it hard to beleive though because my altenator puts out ~1400watts and I only have a 400rms amp. I ahve the bass Boost at about half and the gain at about ~40%. The amp kicks off on me and restarts(I think its called clipping if im not mistaken). Then, after a good drive of bumping, When i turn my car off. I go to turn it back on and the battery is dead.

I really would like to figure this out. Im wondering if a capacitor would help or maybe just put another battery in the trunk.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

1 problem right away

bass boost shouldnt even need to be used

40% gain is pretty high as well

your alt doesnt put out 1400 watts

sounds like you have a wiring issue if your battery keeps dying.

could be something as simple as a loose connection

DO NOT BUY A CAP

you shouldnt need a 2nd battery with the small amount of power you are running

i'm running 1600 rms on 105 amp alt. Bass boost will kill your speakers and amps and should never, ever be used. It causes distortion. You need to set your gains correctly and get more power. 400 rms is nothing when it comes to getting decent loud.

Your not going to hear alot of bass from your subs because you don't have enough power to work with, which is why you use bass boos most likely. Yo have to have more power to get loud, i can't stress that enough.

Please don't use bass boost, and if you are not using a ported box, you need to get one or build one yourself. It will add about 3 db's and will help alot. You can probably get away with setting your gain to 55-60 percent, it will help out alot, but i don't know if your amp would like it. You may want to try it and see if your amp goes into protect mode just to make sure. Or set it by using a dmm, which is kinda hard to explain

Ok I understand now. Whats the point of Bass Boost then? Just for noobs like me that want it to be louder? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
