Ok here's the situation.
i already have 4 JL w3v3's-8 that only allow me to drop to a 2 ohm load. I am using a Hifonics 2008D amp that puts out 2000x1 @ 1ohm. I have a ported custom built enclosure, built to specs for the JL's.
I plan on selling the 8ohm JL's and either getting 4 JL's with a 4 ohm load or getting 4 Type R's with dual 2 ohms.
Which subs would be "better"? I'm looking for more SPL than SQ. 99% rap with deep, long, bass notes.
I can get 4 JL's for about $598, from a store, 1 yr warranty included. I believe I can get the Type R's off the net from various websites and/or ebay for $550 or less.
I don't need to know how I should just get one 2000w RMS sub and get a box built. Or what other brands you can recommend OR what you're selling in the marketplace. I've never personally used Type R's, so that's why I'm asking for you guys opinion. Thanks.
