4 15's vs 2 18's, 98 explorer, 4kw

so i have a memphis 4kw to play with, and a 4 door explorer. i'm wanting more cone area than my 9518g, but feel like 2k per sub wouldnt be doing a second 9518 justice.

so, i'm looking for more efficient subs. was thinking 4 15s along the lines of type r's, dc level 3s, fi qs, something that will get down on 1k each. possibly 3 stronger 15s, level 4s, bls, something like that.

other option would be to do 2 18s, looking at nightshades, level 4 xls, and death penaltys. maybe even another 9518 on 2kw each?

opinions? i know a few of you have tried both type setups with explorers.

If your gonna fold seat down, 4 15s, if its gonna stay up 2 18s.

2 IA DP 18s, in 10^3 would blow your head off on a Memphis 4K.

i have 4 nightshade 15s and 4 SAZ-3000ds and that is loud as F*ck and i have had 2 Nightshade 18s on 2 SAZ-3000ds and the 4 15's were alot louder to the ear but the 18s mettered 1 or so DB quieter so its a toss up but in the bronco 2 with 2 SAZ-3000ds on 4 15s i was in the low 150s and with the 4 SAZ-3000ds i was mid 150s i have a 4 15 box in my 93 explorer ill sell you tuned to 32hz haha you pay shipping lol

i dont want to spend the cash on the batteries and extra amps to run 4 high end subs, if i went with 3-4 15s, they'd have to be 1k-1.5kw subs.

i'm going to keep the backseat for sure since its a daily driver and i use that for storage space since i dont have any behind the rear seats. you dont think i'll have the airspace for 4 15's keeping the rear seat? height of the box isnt a major issue, as long as i can see out some of the back window. dont think i could get used to a daily 15 mile commute to work on a freeway without seeing out the back and side cargo area windows.

so if its not looking like im gonna have the room for 4, how about 3 15 level 4 or bl 15s, vs a pair of nightshade, lvl 4 xl, or death penalty 18s? will the slight cone area advantage and the added motor strength of the 15s outweigh the 18s?

any opinions on just how much i'll be underpowering a pair of 9518s with a 4kd? will i truly be better off with more efficient subs? i love my 18 for sure, but just feel like it would want a lot more power.

Tellin you man, you would be real happy with the T4's Back when they came out I had 2 in a 98 Blazer off a Soundstream TR-1600 giving them 800 watts each and put up a 148.8 and what was in a shitty box.

with the Nightshade 18's you can go as small as 4ft^3 / sub that will leave you a lot of room i haven't messed with the lvl 4 at all but i can say that IA makes great stuff so it just comes down to what you want sundown audio can make the 18s to be a 1500 watt driver (they are custom built to your needs )

i'd say go with 4 15's..... it would prolly be more efficient and a lil more cone area for ya..

IMO, you would do better giving the 2 18s an assload of cubes, youre wanting lows anyway. Limiting cubes to run 3 15s would probably put them at the same output of the 18s. Why buy 3 subs, when you can use 2 to their full potential? Like i said 2 DP 18s would do great in the room you're alloting.
