guys i am trying to decide which is better.

4 cvr 10's-$260

1 fi bl 15-$300

i have around 1400 or so rms on tap at 1ohm.

this will be in a trunk car.

the cvr's will be in 5 cubes net at 35 hz with an 8" port. crx style subs up port back.

bl will be in 4 cubes with one 8" port on axis sub and port back.

i was thinking the 10's would be louder, last a lot longer and not get as hot.

do you guys think the 10's would be better? i mean i want something that isnt going to bottom out and get hot. i was thinking since the 10's would be getting like 350 rms they could be played way longer than the bl before getting hot.

thanks.

BL FTW,The 10s will have more surface area, but in my findings,My 4 12" L5s on an Orion 2500 vs my 15" HD3 on the same amp,4 12"s f'in scream but with some work I am sure daily(I dont get metered or anything) my hd3 was just as loud but in a different way,its hard to explain,I guess it weird cuz it just as loud but lower,I guess its a ear vs meter thing, but 15" HD3>4 12's IMO,

I guess it is like **** 4 12s that loud, but when its a single sub setup it is awsome. But on the other end u could just do 2 12"s=Enough sd,power handling and a clean install.

the only reason i want to do 4 10's is because i like the fact i can play the subs forever and not worry about heat and reaching their mechanical limits compared to one sub.

In a decent install I am positve the BL can handle 1400wrms daily,I am sure someone with more experiecne with that sub can help more.U could also try a 15" L7,it will like the 1400wrms.U could also check out Audioque 2.5s if u consider the 2 12" idea.

I would go with the 15 I've personally heard some great setups with multiple subs and single subs... to me its all about personal preferences...

i had an l7. it didnt like 1400rms. thermally it was ok but mechanically well not so much and i didnt like the sound of it. once it was broke in it could be bottomed out to easy even with a ssf. i had the same problem with my old l5.

If u dont mind me asking, what kinda of amp are u usingl.

u will blow those subs easy with that much power, i had my 12's on a power 1500 and they didn't like it and that was with the gain all the way down.. by the way, that was 4 12 comp vrs... there only 300rms on the 10's each

rockford t1001bd. my l5 10" (pretty much the same as cvr) took 800 rms for over half a year until i killed it on purpose. i would think the cvrs could take 300 daily with ease. also the subs will only be in 1.25 cubes each so that should help with power handling.
