So the single SA-8 v.2 has been doing great for quite a while with the PSI PR but now that production is in and all pre-orders have shipped I decided I wanted to step it up a bit to THREE of them. Derrick came up today and put together a nice box for me for the three 8s using a single 6" aero-port about 28" long or so tuning us in the low 30s.

Box is constructed of a single layer of 3/4" Russian Birch plywood.

* Yep... that is a LONG port.

* Inside view -- just a basic box with all the giant motors hanging out.

* Sealed with a bit of silicone. As we may be tweaking some more I just ran the wires through the port for the time being.

* Bit close to the side wall but still works out pretty well as we are trying to get a very low peak.

* Small risers for the parcel shelf.

* Box secured into the car with three small angle brackets

Initial impressions are that it is extremely loud and has GREAT low-end extension. Pretty much everything I wanted and more.

Output is much better with the windows down due to the low tuning and it moves a good bit of air. We'll work on videos, metering, etc at a later date but for now I'll just say it sounds GREAT.

looks very nice man, that's the kind of install I am a fan of, tiny subs with big output. glad the SA8 v2s are doing what they were made to do.

OA needs a beefy 8 :p. Just saying...

Why not sub up/ port back in the hatch? Is this configuration tried and true for your car?
i've read in a hatch subs up port side or subs up port back are near the same..

i've seen more setups that use the port on the side with the subs facing back however, not up.

Forgot to add -- I am powering them off the rear channels of my SAX-200.4 bridged at 1.33 ohm (I don't endorse it for anyone else but so far so good).

I's my daily ride and it's more than loud enough for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I wanted to save some cargo room so the single 200.4 on the back seats works great for the whole system. I can only get them to about 40-50% stroke, though, so they could certainly take more.

It's making me want to add more power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Peak is right around 29-31 Hz with the windows down -- sounds the best this way. So far we are at 141.5 or so on music, slowed "Juice Box," with right at 950 watts or so clamped power.

We'll get a video up later on as it's just about lunch.

**** I wish my pathfinder peaked that low...cabin gain drops the tuning off the box nearly 5hz down to 27hz yet my peak is ~39...sigh

It's pretty nasty... really moving some serious air for what it is. I may drop in some more power at some point temporarily to see what the max output is.

I took a vid of my three the other day but they are moving so little its not even worth posting LOL. I need more power bad. They are still getting down nicely though. Can only imagine how great they will be when I get more than 200-300 watts a piece on them
