Hi. I'm looking to buy the xps 420 from dell :

http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/xpsdt_420?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~tab=bundlestab&~ck=mn

But I am a little worried about the power supply. Im loadin it up, and the psu is at 375 watts. Should I be worried?

Here's what itll have:

8800GT 512mb

E8500 3.2 duo proc

4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 4 DIMMs

Single 500gb Hard drive

Single 16x optical drive

Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card

Standard Keyboard and mouse

USB: Wifi internet device.

Will the 375 psu be sufficent?

Do I have nothing to worry about?

I plan to use it to play graphic-intensive, fast paced games. Such as (for example): Call of duty 4, crysis, Command and Conquer 3, Need for speed pro street, etc. Will this pc be strong enough for these games? And will the PSU prove worthy?

Dude I just ordered almost that same PC from Newegg

I am going to be putting it together myself. Dont get ripped off by dell.

I got the quad q6600

GT 8800GT vid card

4 gigs of ram

Sweet looking case

250 gig Hard drive (A 640 gig one from new egg is like 130)

and a 550W PSU

Imo thats the way to go

It cost me just over $1000 dollars

375 will probably work, but it's borderline and you'll probably experience problems long-term ... I'd get a high-quality 500 watt or higher, personally ...

Im purchasing from a retailer. I have no experince with building pc, and don't want to spend 1,000s of dollars to learn. I like dell's 3 year warranty (which I wont have at all if I build my own). And all dell Pc's ive had in the past have lasted just fine up until and beyond they were outdated.

So...um..is 375 watt psu enough?

Sorry, I just assumed this was another one of the same threads you had already made like 5 times ... Then I actually read it and edited my post as I was wrong ...
I don't see where it actually says 375 watt PSU //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Also, I hope you're getting the Ultrasharp 24" monitor ... Well worth the $210 price difference for a VA panel over a TN ...

In tech specs it says 375w is the standard psu. They upgrade it to 450w psu if you get the bundle deal thing which is usually over $2200.
How much more is that then you are going to spend?

EDIT:

And I have never put together a PC before either but you wont have to spend 1000's of dollars learning how. Just research it and it looks pretty easy.

Check out http://www.hardforum.com if you want more info on building ur own

375 watt psu could be shit, you need to look at the amperage on the rails. I've seen 500 watt psu's that have all the amps on the 5v rail which is shit since almost everything is run off the 12v rail. With that video card, 375 would be really close, I would invest in something a little higher/better quality.

IMO it should be find you don't sound like someone who will be doing much work yourself on it or adding too many things.
I am assuming all of this is coming prebuilt from dell?
yes. it is. with all the things i said will be in it...

375 will be ok running graphic-intense games?

Dell would not sell the PC unless the PS could handle it, they do not want to be replacing shit under warranty left and right.

if you are really concerned you can get an Antec 650 or so for $60-70 after rebates when they go on sale, it is what I got but I would have probably gotten a 450 or so if this one was not on sale and the same price.

Also changing the PS may or may not fugg up the warranty.
