3-way VS. 4-way

Yea, my post above said 4-way so a tweeter is implied.

Having tweets in the door don't mean you can't move them, just make a plug. Never feel that you don't have options. Placement is more important than anything else.

Kicks are easy locations for mids. And PLD is ideal

A pillar mids are tricky due to airspace. And they block visual out the windshield.

Doors that have midbass should not have mids also, unless in sealed pods, since the midbass pressurizes the door.

I'm running 3 way front plus sub,..running a dynaudio mw 180 in the door,h-audio 6.5 in the kick and boston tweet in the pillar.

I like the front being loud and clear..try it if you can.i have a ph.gold 3 way xover for sale if you need to try it.

Going to try some of those tweeter spheres like hope has been teasing us with.

That or I can put them in the door inbetween the midbass and tweeter. Theres room there. But thats just another hole in my door LOL
That could work though if sealed from the MB . As long as you're running active and will able to change xover points namely the low pass on the mid since one will be more on axis than the other.

you can still put the mid in the pillar even with the tweet in the door. I mean kicks can work, but its just crazy sometimes trying to get them right and with it being a stick that just makes it harder IMO....but alot of ppl love kicks...

lol this site is like bug bro. I swore after I did my last setup I was gonna leave the system alone and spend money on other stuff!....never happened....now I'm rebuilding my front stage again. I think this time after I get it all in...I'm just gonna disappear from the audio scene for a while ha.

You will def need pods...I'd suggest either going in your door or pillars for 3 way. I never could get my Kicks to do right with my mids but they were great for midbass in my car.
Yea this site has ruined my car audio dreams and made me waste a lot of time and money swapping gear out :/

But I would make pods and attach them to my pillars, but I in no way have the tools or skills to do so...

neither do I. Luckily a friend of mine has a shop and he knows how to do all of it. I do all the research and see what I want, why i want it, and how I want it done...and he does it for purty cheap too.

Personally I kinda just wing it. My dads painted and worked at bodyshops his entire life so he helps me out a lot. Most of the wingin is with the durango tho. I kinda just practice on that thing LOL

LOL gonna go spl with the burban?

Thats what I wanted to do with my durango but its just got too many miles and its basically turned into a winter beater. Gonna get rid of that in the spring/summer and get a truck.. Then ill REALLY be broke. Lift kits aint cheap

The Burban is def gonna be more SPL oriented but I dont want it to sound like crap either. I'll probably still have some nice mids and tweets in it probably running active. Thinking either about 4-6 of those TC LMS 18s or maybe a wall of Sundown SAs or DC lvl 3s...idk yet just random thoughts...

I thought about getting a truck too. I really like those new GMC Sierra Denali trucks but then I'd probably go SQ again, which I have no problem with, but I want something to show these ignorant fools around me what REAL spl is...not just seeing how horrible u can make your trunk sound.

Yeah I hear ya. If I were to get a truck I would want to keep the backseat so I couldnt do anything terribly loud. Which would make me want to go for sq again and itd turn into another money pit.

I sat in one of the new Denali trucks with the black leather interior and wood grain and all and I immediately thought "SQ is the only way to go in this". So I definitely hear where youre coming from man.

You could always do a SQL setup in the burban? A nice set of drivers in the front and a few SQ oriented subs in the back. That way you could get pretty loud and be able to turn them down to blend with the music good.

Thats pretty much the plan. I just have to decide what drivers I want to use and if I want to use multiple sets to keep up with the subs when I really go to crank it for a demo or something. I think it'd be cool to have it where I can have multiple sets upfront but only have one set that plays all the time and the others on something of a toggle switch that I'd only turn on for when I want to crank it up and otherwise they'll stay off to keep my imaging stable. That way (if I dont create too many rattles from the subs) I could compete SQ and SPL with one vehicle. I haven't completely weighed the pros and cons of that idea yet though so its nothing definite. I do know that I'll probably have the "SQ" mids in the kicks though so that the other mids used for pure volume (which will probably be in the door) dont interfere with it.

Dude Ive been thinking the same thing forever. All you would need is a seperate remote wire for the amp running all the drivers to get loud.

I have a few 05' XXX motors. You should look into them when you go to do the build. I had two 12's at once on a DD m3a and LOVED it. Going to be running only one when I get a new vehicle though. Im building one of them with a ti basket LOL former is gonna be pretty long
