3 jl 8w3v3's vs 2 jl 12w3v3's

yea im...

im lookin for something that hits tight as possible...

with the 2 12w3's that i own right now aren't floating my boat

i don't really care for loudness...

but i figured the 3 8's would be as loud as the 2 12's if not close to it.

but i've never heard 8's thats why im asking

How about 2 10's or 4 8's loaded down to one ohm........

I had two 10's before and they were tight and crisp. Also had 2 8's in my dd about 10 years ago and was guite pleased with the sound (they were ported).

In terms of cone space 2 12's = 5 8's.

you sure cause i figured
2 12's = 24

3 8's = 24

4 6's =24

5 8's = 40

or im missing something ?

and my amp doesn't do 1 ohm
it dosent work like that. it goes by the actual size of the cone it self. some are larger than others, for example if a sub has a fatter surround than another of the same size, the one with the fatter surround will have less effictave piston area.

12w3v3 has 80.6 sq" of cone area so x2= 161.2 total sq" of cone area

8w3v3 has 32.2 sq" of cone so x3=96.6 total sq" of cone area.

so with thoes 2 choices, the 12's would be louder than the 8's

now 5 8w3v3's would = about 161 sq" of cone area and that would be equal to the 2 12's
