I was up at Tweeter today (Audio Store just incase) and there was a kid and his dad looking at some subs. Here comes the sad part....he ended up getting a JLW6v2 ( I think ) after about hearing it for 6 secs. He also picked up a JL 500 or 1000/1 amp for the sub. I'm not too sure about this one I know they where talking about the most powerful amp they have and that was the 1000. The kid started asking about caps, they ended up talking him into a 5farad cap. For a grand total of around $1500-$2000 depending on the amp.

I wanted to say something so bad.

But I'm getting my subs put in on Tuesday and I didn't want any bad blood between us.

well thats when u meet them in the parking lot and tell them the truth......ive done that when ive been in sprint stores and see the idiots giving wrong info......

If it was a .5 or 1 fard cap, I could understand that, but 5!?!?!? I would've said something right then and there. Nothing brings me more pleasure than pissing off sales people who give customers wrong info just to make $$.

One time I was at a little rinky dink local shop, and this little punk sales dude was selling this kid and his father two Sony Xplods. Normally I wouldnt have said anything, but at the time I was there, they had Type R's on sale for Buy 1 Get 1, which cost less than the 2 Xplods. I asked the salesman "Aren't you gonna let him hear the subs before they buy it?", and he goes "Why? These are amazing subs". I told the father to get the Type R's, b/c I have heard them both and the Type R's are light years ahead of the Sony's, plus they were cheaper. Salesman tried to convince them I didn't know what I was talking about, and how since he works there, he obviously knows more than me. To make a long story short, I convinced the salesman to let them hear both subs off of a Crossfire VR600D that I had in my car at the time, and they bought the Type R's. The father gave me the price difference between them and the Sony's (40 bucks) for helping him out. mg i would have interuppted the conversation.......a 5 farad cap? what the ****? when i get a job at a car audio place im seriously going to reform the way that things are done...i'm going to suggest to the manager to change their policies of selling bandpasses to newbs and caps etc...

The cap alone was $320

I told one of the salesmen I was getting rid of my 6x9's and getting 6.5. He started to tell me that I should get these new MB Quarts (not sure the model). They had a removeable tweeter in the center if that helps. I asked if tweeters in the rear would mess up my imaging? He said that you need some sort of tweeter in the rear. He also told me that you couldn't find them online. ( He knows I don't buy anything retail )

I know I don't know too much about speakers. But you guys have taught me enough to have some idea about this stuff.

i always go to those big stores. i dress up like a best buy salesman and i go pretend i am one. they always come to me for help and i tell them how bad best buy stuff was and blah blah blah

im working on my first system right now, almost done just gota get subs and make a box. but when i was researching on what to get i learned a ton off this forum and i would go to car audio stores and ask them about whats the best stuff and i would kno when their trying to rip me off or are bullshittin me just to make money also because im 16 years old, like when the dude at one store tryed to sell me Rockford HE2's and a boss amp saying they were amazing or another store pricing me like 500 bucks on a mrv-500 amp. etc.

i personally like curcuit city the store by me at least, all the guys really know their **** and are really helpful.

maybe you got lucky, and the CC by your house has good installers.. that's not usually the case around NH.. haha, they all ****!

im the same way w/most of you guys. i only visit local stores to actually here stuff and get stuff installed. then i buy everything online! ooo do they hate me for that. cc is a hell of a lot better than best buy. i love when dudes try to sell me a w7 for 1000 bucks!
