2006 l7 12's

I brought a 2006 l7 dvc 2ohm, and hooked it up to a vibe 1200d , which is rated at 1200 watts @ 1 ohm rms, while playing it the other day i think i smelt some vc burning, because i smelt my port and //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif it aint smell good and the woofer was hot, my sub still functions though, how much power do you think a l7 can handle daily, and do you think i damaged my sub?

i really dont think 1200 should blow it, did you use a dmm to set your gains?

most likely yes if u didn't set your gain correctly

Yep used a DMM, its weird because i used to have a PPi DCx122 which could handle 1000 watts and when playing the same song using the same amp, i smelt it also..........

what are the enclosure specs of the box? could it be the enclosure wasnt built right for the sub? just a guess

my 15" 06' L7 has been getting warm too and i've smelt somthin funny at first i thought it was vc but it smells diff then burning vc...i donno mine still sounds the same as it did after i broke it in and i been beatin it for a 5-6 weeks now

I think the new l7s have alot of extra glue, so what you might be smelling is just the extra glue burn off.

I think your fine, it should go away, just make sure your amp settings (gain,etc) are set properly

You're absolutely right about that one. Smoke came out of my L7's and kept on going for 15 mins. We let it cool off for a day and went back to burp it...it did the exact same number. Don't worry...your subs will do just fine.
