My customer's car is a 05 legacy with with stock head unit and door speakers. He added aftermarket Alpine PDX 600.1 amp and Alpine Type R 12" sub woofer to the oem system a few years ago. He decided that he wanted more from his audio system by doing a full SQ build with the highest quality products for his budget. Since this is his daily driver he needed the car for work and could not leave it for a extended amount for time. So Im working on the car in stages. So it will take 3-4 trips to the shop to complete the build. Also he lives 1.5 hrs away from the shop. The system will be ran passive with the illusion audio crossovers now. His future plans after this build will include adding Arc audio PS8, 0 gauge wire, dry cell sealed battery and run the system active.

Goals for the build

- Achieve high level sound quality and get loud when needed.

- minimal trunk space lost and retain stock look and spare tire.

- keep all panels stealth in appearance

Equipment

- JVC KW-AV60 6.1" double din dvd/cd head unit receiver

- Illusion Audio Carbon C6 2way components for the front stage( Backed ordered should be here by 3/15/13

- Arc Audio Black Series 12D4 12" subwoofer

- Arc Audio KS 300.4 4channel amp for the component set in BI-amp mode

- Arc Audio KS 300.2 2 Channel amp bridged to one channel for the sub

First I installed the JVC 6.1 DOUBLE DIN in the dash

then the viper responder 350 2 way alarm and a backup battery to keep his system secured

Moving onto the trunk area where the sub enclosure and amp rack will be located. I built the enclosure in two parts. I started with the lower, by building a foundation mold. but without the car be present I had to come up with another ways of doing this. I Had four circles left over from another build that I could use for the lower part of the box. Since I had four, i decided to do two boxes at the same time just in case someone in the future would like something similar.

Foundation is complete, now it time to wrap it with 1/8 black trunk liner that

will soak up the resin very well.

The mold is now soaked with resin and then sanded after fully cured.

how many layers of glass are planned for the enclosure sides? is this enclosure planned for a specific location in the trunk?
I just mix up one quart of thick resin/dyna glass paste and spread it on the inside walls of the enclosure. I didnt use any chop mat. This is the lower part of the enclosure which will sit inside of the spare tire. since the customer wanted to retain the spare tire.

I actually really like that idea for the sub going in the spare tire, have you done it before and gotten good results out of it? May try that myself.
This is the first one that Im doing in the spare tire well. Actually most of the enclosure is above the spare tire, only a small portion is in the spare tire. It should sound the same as a general sealed enclosure. When building this enclosure, i made two of the spare tire portion of the enclosure in case in the future if some one else need same type of application.

Alright guys here is what I got finished yesterday when I had some time. The next time hes comes I should be finished the full build. still waiting on the back ordered speakers.

- Finished Marking amp location for the cutouts and mounting area

-Finished running all speaker, rca, power and ground wires to their designated area.

- Finished cutting out sections out of the top trim panel and router the edges

- wrapped sub enclosure in black vinyl

Speaker wires and RCA wires zipped tied
