Hello,
I am selling my car, and I would love for it to end up with someone who cares about audio.
I'll describe the audio first. I'm a home audio audiophile, and I went a bit nuts on this car trying to get it to sound good enough to make me happy. I went through 4 builds to get it right.
What I've found is that the install accounts for the quality of sound even more than the actual components used. The speakers that are in this are Dynaudio 2 way component drivers, and even more importantly they have a super custom install in the doors. The drivers are mounted to MDF wood inside the door panels, and I have special diffusion devices behind the drivers and plenty of absorption material in the door, and also a lot of dynamat in there. The door panels alone would cost thousands of dollars in a car audio shop.
Onto the equipment - I was running an Alpine F1 7990, and this is the one piece that I've already sold standalone, but don't worry, I'll replace it with an Alpine 9886 which is a great sounding piece. I have a 4 channel JL audio amp that I'm using to biware the speakers, so I'm sending a discrete amp channel to each driver. I have a 500W JL audio sub amp being used to power a custom JL audio stealthbox made for the VW Passat. It integrates right into the side of the trunk perfectly.
All the wiring is excellent and high end stuff, canare connectors, etc. Sound quality is phenomenal, with the Dynaudio speakers sounding very full with percussive dynamics, and excellent tonality all around. The sub is tight, and integrates seamlessly. The silk dome tweeters in the Dynaudios are smooth and clean sounding.
All in all, I've spent close to $10,000 on this car's stereo. The asking price that I have there is fair for the car alone, and you get this super expensive, super unique and very, very good sounding complete custom stereo all included.
Here are more details on the car itself:
This is technically a "2001.5" Passat, meaning it was made in later 2001 with the 2002 VW Passat bodystyle, which looks really sharp. It has chrome accents and is much more streamlined/less boxy than the older models.
The GLX is the highest trim, and it comes fully loaded with all the options. For instance:
Color: Blue Anthracite (a nice subdued grayish blue-green)
Manual Transmission
2.8L V6 engine
Fully functioning moon roof
Seat warmers
Trip computer
Alloy wheels
Black leather seats
Low mileage Continental all-weather tires
Folding rear seats
All the major maintenance items are taken care of. I've done the clutch, timing belt, brakes and rotors, and put on new tires high performance tires.
This car is ready to go, and it would be great for a fellow audio person to have it.

I am located in the greater Boston, MA area, specifically in Burlington, MA.
Please shoot me a PM if you have any questions. Feel free to come by for a test drive and to listen to the stereo!
Thanks for looking.
