get a file sharing program and download 20 khz to 20 hz bass test, lol and then get your dog in the room and play it extremely loud. as u can tell im bored and this has nothing with car audio but is pretty funny. thanks durex

yeah i wouldnt imagine that being used for spl comps., seems like that would be a good clip to test what your system is lacking.

I must say that some of the THX bass tests are excellent for the lower frequencies. They are like 4 minute clips that can be downloaded just as easily as any other test and won't terrorize small animals:p

lol terrorize small animals. Anyways the 20khz to 20hz does not stop at 80 hz (as its name suggests) it stops at 20 hz i would assume. And since some where in that range should be the perfect frequency for most subs, I would imagine its a good bas test, far better than a THX test. Hell I won a competition with it hitting 145.9 with 2 12s and 700 watts so it works for me

I was refering to the cutoff point for SPL competitions, not the sine sweep itself. The sine sweep merely goes through all the audible frequencies. If you want SPL numbers I suggest you find the sympathetic resonance of your vehicle and play that instead of sending every frequency from 80hz and down.

How does one go about finding this sympathetic resonance?

you can listen and hear it. i'm pretty sure it's when the vehicle makes the most natural vibratations, becuz it is acting up the most to the "resonant frequency" it naturally has in the car materials

it takes a while for that clip to get to the lows, and the lows only last for a couple of secs but i geuss thats enough for spl

I have a much better idea.

Download a program called NCH Tone Generator. It's free and only like 200kb.

You can produce any tone from zero to a bajillion Hz. You can make sine waves, triangular waves, sawtooth waves, pink noise, anything. It lets you save tones as .wav files.

What i did was i burned a bass test CD that has 20hz, 22hz, 24hz, all the way up to 130hz. I also made some sweeps, like 20 to 50, 50 to 20, 30 to 130, so on and so forth.

It's amazingly simple, making a great test cd only takes like half an hour. I reccomend that whoever has a CD burner to get the program.

Ganji is right when he says download that program. I did and had a fun time screwing with it. Gave myself a headache and terrorized small animals all in one evening. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
