2 x 15" GTI's or 2 x 12" IDMAXv3?

Sealed box, in a car trunk.

What would you suggest and why?

I'm completely decided on one or the other. Neither is cheap, but not super expensive either. The Max is more $$ I think (GTI is like $310 new on ebay). Both seem like they are similar type of sub, with good spl but still pretty clear.

Both sound like the right subs for me, and the box size for sealed is almost the same. The GTI is bigger, of course, but almost same exact box space as the MAX 12 (no 15's available for MAX).

Also, which pair should get louder? I have 1 x JL1000/1 amp to run both subs.

Please help me decide!

 
Well, I can't really say anything about either. However, I have JBL GTO's, and they're amazing. In small sealed enclosures, and they hit hard, and have GREAT response. I definitely recommend them for anyone. I also have a JBL amp, that has played until like 9.5volts. It's a beast.

So, from my experience, JBL has great products.

 
Ive been wanting to try out a GTi. I hear really really good things about the differential-drive design. As big a fan of ID as I am, Id try the GTi's. Cheaper too. Downside is their odd impedance tho, which will likely eat up that $ saving in amplifier cost.

Assuming my amp holds out at 1.5 load like it says should, it should power dual Gti's just the same as a 4 ohm load or 2 ohm load, so I'm not worried about that part. The JL is supposed to be exactly 1000rms for any load between 1.5 and 4. (I got the amp at a deal on ebay, $450 new, so that's what I ended up with).

I bet I'd be happy with either pair, but I'm looking for that final nudge to make me give in and make a choice.

Plus the ID12v3 max's seem hard to find at a good price online, brand new? I dunno why that is, or if I just don't know where to look.

ID is a smaller company that tends to have a tighter control over unauthorized internet transactions.

Ah, if they're price locking them, then GTI's it shall be. That makes the decision easier as I don't care for that shit.

That also explains why I saw online sellers dropping more off the retail cost of a Q series than I saw them knocking off of the MAX series, which costs a good bit more.

For now, a single 1000/1.

I'm concerned about the ohm load as well, being so close to the minimum, but I would think I could run it out at 6 ohms if necessary, seeing as my stock alt won't realistically create 1000W rms at any ohm load with any amp.

Longer term, I would certainly consider replacing the alternator and adding a second 1000/1, depending on how satisfied I am (which means it's almost certainly going to happen, but maybe not immediately).

EDIT: While I have your ear. Do you think I should fire them up through the rear deck and the soon-to-be-empty 6x9 slots, or towards the rear?
