2 kickler l7 12a vs re xxx 15

What do you think would sound better(louder actually)

two kicker l7 12s driven by a jbl 1200.1 in a ported box tuned to 37 hz with each sub having 1.97 cubes, or a re xxx 15 with 4 cubes with the same amp tuned to 33??

what about a 12 xxx, I would imagine that two 12s would win, but what about the 15?

and as far as sq/spl what would be the breakdown for that kinda setup? thanks

louder it could be a toss up, with those subs having so little room (the kickers) and Sq, i give it to teh XXX

i think the xxx will win in sq over the L7's but i think the kickers are more spl, but i dont know if you would push the L7's to there potential in only 2 cubic feet

i would say the 15" XXX would dominate in SQ but in spl it would be close but i still think the XXX would pull away victorious due to the lack of box size for the L7's

what if I added polyfil to either enclosure, how much does that realy help? and how many theoretical cubes does it add

depends on how much you add...

im not sure of hte calculations, but it can add volume

1.97 cubes for each L7 ported isn't going to do much justice. they need at least 3 cube IMO to really shine. in this case, i'll put my money on the XXX.

from what i've heard the 12a will definitely sound the best...are you looking for pure sq, spl, sql?

haha I'd say I am looking for a spl sub, maybe 70spl/30sq, but sq is not a bad thing as long as it gets low and hits real hard I will be happy

you should add about 1 lb for every cubic foot the box is, and then it adds about 25% to your box size, so your l7 box would become 2.5 cubes, and the XXX box would become 5 cubes. same comments on sq v spl as everyone else

I just hooked up an HC 15" in a 5 cube box tuned to ~33htz, and all i have to say is.. Holy Shit!! I can't imagine how loud an XXX would be in the same enclosure (i may just be tempted to find out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif).. I know that the HC 15 destroys a 15"L7 sealed, so i'd imagine that the XXX 15 would do the same to 2 12"s w/o enough airspace
