(2) IDMAX 12 vs. 13W7

Have the 13w7 and considering the 2 IDMAX 12's instead. Will be pushing about 1400W to either setup.

I assume the 2 IDMAX's would be louder but I want some opinions. Also if I go ported, what volume and tuning freq if I want bass drum music to kick the shit out of me?

I'm just learning WinISD, but it looks like if I ported the 2 IDMAX's to 4cf a4 30Hz that I would have close to 6db more output than the 13W7 ported to the same size and freq. Does that sound right?

The IDMaxs will have less distortion because they each will be more linear in their strokes.

Once the 13W7 has reached peak xmax and distortion arises, the IDMax 12s will each be playing safely within their linear limits @ 18mm (24.6mm xmax 1-way). The IDMax will still have about 37% more throw than the W7.

an SI MAG 12 would go great in a portedbox with 1400 rms . check on that as well.

Well with that power, I would go with the IDMAXs. I gave my old one 800RMS in a sealed box and it seemed like it wanted a little more, but it still sounded great.

I would definitely recommend 2 idmax's over the W7. I had 2 of those in a 6 cubic foot chamber tuned to 28 hertz, and they were very loud and tonally accurate. As far as power, I gave them about 900 rms and they were fine with that and i don't think they really need any more, especially if in a larger enclosure.

IDMAXs are known to efficiently use anywhere from 500~750W... the 1kW RMS rating is thermal i believe..
